Panel 2: Early Christian age, medieval age, Renaissance, up to 18th century
In this panel the underdrawing is made of charcoal (letter "A"), sanguigna (letter "C") and iron-gall ink (letter āDā). Each pigment is presented in mixture with two binders: egg tempera (column on the left) and linseed oil (column on the right). The painted surface is divided into 3 stripes: the first 2 present 2 different finishings: terpene resin (stripe on the top) and acrylic resin (middle stripe). The third one is unprotected.
