Panel 4: Natural and synthetic dyes

In this panel the underdrawing is made of charcoal (letter "A") and graphite (letter “E”).

Each synthetic dye is presented in mixture with two binders: Arabic gum (column on the left) and PVAc (column on the right). Natural dyes are presented in mixture with Arabic gum only.

The painted surface is divided into 3 stripes: the first 2 present 2 different finishings: terpene resin (stripe on the top) and acrylic resin (middle stripe). The third one is unprotected.
